Jackie Downing—Founder/Director of   WoodsEdge 


Jackie has a Certificate in Early Childhood Education and is Director II certified through EEC.  She has a BA in Marketing from Simmons College and a MA in Leadership and Change from Regis College.   Jackie has 28 years of early childhood education experience and founded WoodsEdge. Jackie served on the Sudbury Early Childhood Advisory Council as co-chair, is on the Board of the Minuteman Tech. Advisory Council and is a past co-chair of the Metro-west AEYC.



Jackie enjoys cooking, entertaining, yoga, sprint triathlons and spending time with family.  She has three young adult children, one who started a business of his own!



Kaitlyn– Infant/ Toddler Co-Teacher

Kaitlyn has been at Woodsedge since October 2012. Prior to Woodsedge she spent 2 years working with infants and toddlers at another Sudbury early childhood program and became Infant/Toddler Teacher certified in February 2014. Kaitlyn has her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Framingham State University.

In her spare time Kaitlyn enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, writing, and relaxing.

Sarah Hall  Lead Toddler Teacher

I have been working in the childcare field for eight years and am very excited to begin my new journey here at WoodsEdge. I am EEC Certified in infants, toddlers, and preschool and have my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education. I enjoy spending my free time with my family (I have three little nephews and another on the way!) If I’m not with them I will probably be found cuddled up with a book or baking something sweet in the kitchen.




Melissa Abrams   Preschool Two Co- Teacher


My name is Melissa Abrams. I have earned a B.A. in Psychology and an M.Ed. in Special Education. I am enrolled in an A.S. program for Early Childhood Education. I started working with students 20 years ago, as a high schooler taking an early child development lab class. I have worked for Head Start and public schools in Concord and Wellesley. I enjoy reading, writing, meditating, and organizing.


Kayla Bitencourt    Preschool  2 Co-Teacher


I went to Regis College to obtain my BA in Sociology and earned a minor in Psychology.  While finishing up my degree, I decided to get my teachers certification in early education at Regis as well.  I have been working with infants to pre-k age since 2012.  I took a school year off to stay at home with my son and daughter.  I missed the fun of teaching and am so glad to have gone back!
I love to not only teach children, but for them to teach me as well!  Children have amazing minds!  



Kristina Chin     Preschool Three Teacher

My name is Kristina Chin.  I started my teaching career at the Newton YMCA in Newton, Massachusetts.  My experience began in the Toddler classroom for the first year and then I transitioned to the Preschool.  I spent seven years in the mixed age preschool classroom working my way up from assistant teacher helping a couple days a week, to Teacher, to Lead teacher my last two years there.   I have a Bachelors of Arts degree from Grand Valley State University and Teacher Certification from Fisher College.  I love watching children grow and learn through play. The skills I developed working with many ages allows me to identify learning styles and abilities and individualize around those distinct characteristics.

Elizabeth Neuman went to the University of Montana and the Mass. College of Art (BFA)

After working as an after school and public school art teacher for several years , Elizabeth decided to pursue a Masters degree in Ed. at Cambridge College.

Elizabeth “fell in love” with preschool age children and has been working for almost 20 years in this field. She has worked for Umass Memorial Child Care Center in Worcester,Early Adventures in Clinton and Perkins Child Development Center in Lancaster. Nutrition and health, Nature, science, reading stories, music and art are her favorite methods for scaffolding learning in young children.

Elizabeth lives in Clinton with her husband Don and has 2 sisters who ive in Cranston and norwell, R.I.. Elizabeth enjoys gardening and spending time in nature, redain and doing yoga.

Monique McCabe   Afternoon Toddler Teacher


Monique is a graduate of Worcester State University with a B.S. In Early Childhood Education. She is both lead teacher and Director 11 certified. Her previous teaching experiences include preschools in Acton, Wellesley, Weston and Sudbury  She worked with Jackie when Woodsedge was founded, left to raise her daughters and we’re glad she’s back! In addition to teaching in the afternoons at Woodsedge she also works for her families property management company. Monique resides in Hudson with her husband   Dan, daughters Alayna and Juliana and their active yellow lab Axle.

Alison Yen   Float Assistant



Alison comes to Woodsedge with 10+ years of experience of volunteer work with young children. She has a BA in Spanish and a Masters in Public Health, with which she did work in clinical research. Most recently she has been caring for her 2 children. in her free time, Alison enjoys time with her family, running, and traveling.
