Jackie Downing—Founder/Director of WoodsEdge 

Jackie has a Certificate in Early Childhood Education and is Director II certified through EEC.  She has a BA in Marketing from Simmons College and a MA in Leadership and Change from Regis College.   Jackie has 28 years of early childhood education experience and founded WoodsEdge. Jackie served on the Sudbury Early Childhood Advisory Council as co-chair, is on the Board of the Minuteman Tech. Advisory Council and is a past co-chair of the Metro-west AEYC.

Jackie enjoys cooking, entertaining, yoga, sprint triathlons and spending time with family.  She has three young adult children, one who started a business of his own!


dixie_lampilaDixanna (Dixie)–Infant/Toddler Teacher

Dixie works part-time as our Infant and  Toddler Teacher.  She holds an Associates Degree in Science with concentration in Medical Assisting from Newbury College.  Dixie gained her Teacher certification with completion of course work at Mass Bay Community College.  For the past 22 years, Dixie has worked with either children in various settings or with Alzheimer’s patients.  Dixie joined the WoodsEdge staff in May 2007.

Dixie raised 2 children and enjoys spending time with her  daughter and her dog.

Kaitlyn– Infant/ Toddler Teacher

Kaitlyn has been at Woodsedge since October 2012. Prior to Woodsedge she spent 2 years working with infants and toddlers at another Sudbury early childhood program and became Infant/Toddler Teacher certified in February 2014. Kaitlyn has her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Framingham State University.

In her spare time Kaitlyn enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, writing, and relaxing.

Sharon—Infant Teacher .  She has an EEC Certification in Infant/Toddler/Preschool/Director I. Sharon completed her course work at both Wheelock and Middlesex Colleges. She has over 25 years of experience with children of all ages. Sharon also has experience with special needs children and adults.

Sharon lives with her husband of 22 years as well as their many animals.

Miss Susan is the Preschool Two co-teacher and brings 25 years of Early Childhood experience to the classroom. Susan has an MS degree and is  lead EEC teacher qualified.She has worked in various settings. She has a son and enjoys science, studying birds and attending concerts.

Originally educated in the field of Botany at the University of Michigan, Peggy Bragg left her 15 year career in botany to pursue a new career as a family day care provider after the birth of her son. The addition of a homeless teenager to her family in 2014 necessitated a work setting outside of her home as well as during school hours only, thus beginning her new adventure as a teacher. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in early education at Tufts University. Peggy has also taught Sunday school for preschoolers, preteens, and teenagers for over 25 years in her church. Her hobbies include exploring nature, gardening, crafts, and all kinds of animals.Peggy assists in preschool Three and brings many new dimensions to the children through her varied interests

Assistant Toddler Teacher

Haeleigh graduated in 2012 from Assabet Valley High School with her welding license. Her interests took a turn toward education while she worked assisting handicapped and special needs students in the Hudson public schools. She is currently working toward her Mass. Dept. of Early Care and Education teaching certification.

She lives with her fiance, James and her cat, Patches.


Barbara Russo      Toddler Lead Teacher

Barbara is an Early Childhood Educator certified through Mass Bay Community College. She has over 30 years of experience working with children and fully enjoys the challenges of her toddler group. The environment is changed just enough to keep the room interesting and curriculum is appropriate and responsive to the group interests. Barbara encourages her group to learn, among many concepts, self-help skills and her unlimited patience supports toddler success.

My name is Kristina Chin.  I started my teaching career at the Newton YMCA in Newton, Massachusetts.  My experience began in the Toddler classroom for the first year and then I transitioned to the Preschool.  I spent seven years in the mixed age preschool classroom working my way up from assistant teacher helping a couple days a week, to Teacher, to Lead teacher my last two years there.   I have a Bachelors of Arts degree from Grand Valley State University and Teacher Certification from Fisher College.  I love watching children grow and learn through play. The skills I developed working with many ages allows me to identify learning styles and abilities and individualize around those distinct characteristics.


Maria Chandler    Preschool Two Teacher

I have been working in the childcare field since 1999.
Experience includes, Head Start and Wellesley College Child Study Center.
I have an Early Childhood Certificate from Mass. Bay Community College and continue  to look for further education and training in the field to create new teaching strategies.
I’m passionate about working with children, and I’m very exited to be here at Woodsedge Children’s Center!

Monique McCabe   Afternoon Preschool Teacher


Monique is a graduate of Worcester State University with a B.S. In Early Childhood Education. She is both lead teacher and Director 11 certified. Her previous teaching experiences include preschools in Acton, Wellesley, Weston and Sudbury  She worked with Jackie when Woodsedge was founded, left to raise her daughters and we’re glad she’s back! In addition to teaching in the afternoons at Woodsedge she also works for her families property management company. Monique resides in Hudson with her husband   Dan, daughters Alayna and Juliana and their active yellow lab Axle.

Marissa Fuhrman                              Float assistant


Marissa is a senior at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School and an assistant teacher in the afternoons.  She has over five years of child care experience, both in babysitting and daycare settings.  She has worked with children of all ages as well as with at-risk youth in the Hopkinton High Flight Program.  In her free time, Marissa enjoys running, baking, and spending time with family and friends.
